Laughing, Stansa accepted the challenge of a race. Before she could push her mare into a gallop Sorrel had disappeared! The butterflies left the mares face ad rose into the air in formation before settling once again. Time manipulation..Stansa thought. I can play at that game, she whispered to her mare, "Lets give those legs a rest pretty girl", and with a graceful swoop the mare lifted of the ground and raced towards the waterfall. Nickering and snorting the mare showed total delight in her freedom from the hard ground below. "Faster Stansa, she cried!". Stansa crouched low over the mares neck. "We'd win every race this way, wouldn't we?" She asked the mare. Laughing, she added, "not if Sorrel was racing as well though!". Soon they landed softly a few feet away from Sorrel. "Not quite a race was it Sorrel?" She asked with a giggle, slipping off the mares back. "My horse is annoyed that I haven't formerly introduced you to her, she's quite bossy". Hearing the word bossy, Stansa's mare gave her a huge shove so that she toppled into the water. Spluttering and dripping wet she burst into giggles while the butterflies hovered round her anxiously.

Sorrel laughed and looked down at her friend as she fell in the water. Nice introduction! she called before adding to the mare. Greetings quite bossy, I'm Sorrel and this is Blaze, her voice was teasing and she let out a giggle, before Stansa's mare could even blink an eye she dove elegantly into the water and disappeared. With a smile she swam silently up behind her friend. Once she was about two meters away she halted in the water, signaled water dolphins before leaping up and diving straight over Stansa's head along with the showering mammals. What did ya think of that? she thought to her with a laugh.

See Sorrel disappear Stansa laughed. Her new friend sure had some interesting powers. I can fly though. Leaning forward she whispered to her horse and to the tiny tear drop faces of the butterfly who clung gently to the mares face to guide her. "Ready Girl?", Halo snorted and flicked her tail to show that she was ready. She loved to fly-like Pegasus the winged horse. "I wish I had wings" Halo replied. "With me on board you do!", with a whoosh they swooped up into the sky and glided swiftly towards the waterfall. Each little butterfly flattening themselves against the mares face in a effort not to be swept away by the breeze surrounding them. A short time later they landed gently behind Sorrel. "Sorrel", Stansa laughed, I love the way you travel!". The water glistened like diamonds as halo made her way to the waters edge to gently nuzzle the cool water with her velvety nose.

Sorrel let out a laugh. You can fly, right? How about holding your breath? Oh, flying would help when it comes to diving like a dolphin, try doing this. With that she signaled to the dolphins, ducked under water and flew up, doing a sideways flip before landing again, leaving behind a shower of crystal drops. Almost just as she landed she leapt up again, soared over her friends head and landed with a splash on the other side.

Stansa watched Sorrel disappear as she heard the telepathic message being spoken in her head, as if Sorrel had spoken out loud to her. Two can play at this game she thought. Speaking to her her mare in their special language she clung onto a handful of creamy white mane as her beautiful golden horse rose into the air looking just like the famous winged Pegasus. Laughing out loud Stansa used her flight powers to send Halo soaring towards the waterfall. "Faster Halo", she shouted. The mare flicked her pretty head while the butterflies held on with their tiny legs, keeping their wings glued against them and chattering away at the shear thrill of flying on a horse at speed across the country side. "My sweet winged friends, I can not talk to you if you all talk at once", Stansa laughed again. Halo snorted in agreement. The butterflies quietened their chatter but did not stop talking...it was far too exciting. Soon the waterfall came into site and Halo gently landed sending the butterflies fluttering around her face as they left their bridle like formation to stretch their wings. Stansa leapt to the ground and hugged her beautiful horse.

Sorrel popped her head out of the water just in time to watch her friend and her horse soar toward her. Once they landed and Stansa clambered off Sorrel smiled and clambered out of the water, instantly dry once more, her hair still beautiful and neat. Not bad, but how about this. Make me angry she smiled, nodding encouragingly to her friend as if telling her that she'd be alright. And remember to keep your friends away as well she added, nodding for Blaze to back away . The black mare dipped her head and scooted round to the opposite side of the pool, a look of understanding on her face as she watched her friend, waiting for her to anger her. Remember, she added, looking her friend in the eye, A perfect way to anger me is to blame me about my families deaths or my sister's disappearance she reminded her gentle, a sweet look glittering in her eye as she waited patiently. Is this really a good idea? she thought, remembering the day she'd gotten angry with Cleo.

Stansa stood looking at Sorrel, she felt confused with emotions conflicting in her head. Why would she want to make her friend angry? How well did she no Sorrel and what happened to her family? Stansa really wanted to know all the answers but felt too scared to try and anger Sorrel. What if she became nasty...her horse had already moved away. Ignoring Sorrel, Stansa slowly moved towards her friend horse, whispering quietly to the horse she asked, "why have you moved away, what will happen to Sorrel if she becomes angry?". Stansa felt afraid for the first time. As she neared Blazes she whistled to Halo to come near to her as well. Maybe it's time to leave she thought.

Sorrel turned to her friend as she prepared to leave. I know what you're thinking. You don't have to anger me, Blaze will, just watch. With that Sorrel nodded to the Arabian mare. Blaze dipped her head in understanding, signaled the others behind her, and took a deep breath, preparing to anger the young girl. Just before she did a large bird flapped down in a flurry of squawks and attacked Sorrel. She jumped back in fright and Blaze instantly decided it was time to anger her if the frightened girl was to defend herself. Nodding a warning to Stansa and Halo she stepped forward, letting out a shrill neigh to Sorrel. "It was your fault your sister's gone! Its your fault the others died! You deserve to die because of that bird! Its all your fault!" was what the mare had said, though it wasn't true, and deep down Sorrel knew that. Forcing down her loyalty to the mare she let time slow down before her, though it was still the same speed for Stansa, Halo and Blaze. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, instead of bright blue they were flaming red.
Raising her hands she held fire in her palms. Each flame grew to a treacherous ball and she threw the fire at the bird over and over, attacking the first thing in site. When she got angry, she'd go berserk, even if she was angry at someone else, she'd attack the closest living thing to her, that's why she'd tell everyone to back away. You can't blame me! My mother forced me! I should never have been born for all that concerns her! I thought that if Clara wasn't stealing all the attention from me I'd finally be happy and loved! But No! her disappearance took all that and more further from me! Everyone I knew! Everyone I loved! Hated me! All because my sister was gone! She threw more fire-balls at the bird until its wings were singed and it lay on the ground, begging her for mercy. "This is worse then I thought!" Sorrel heard Blaze's thoughts as clear as if spoken aloud. "Stop!" cried Blaze, "It wasn't your fault!" You liar! Sorrel spun toward the mare, forgetting the cringed bird on the ground behind her. Her eyes blazed red and she glared at the mare, emotions flying everywhere as her powers grew berserk with fury. It was all my fault! I went through so much pain because of it! Now you've reminded me of that pain! Its time for you to suffer the same! She shot a fire ball at the black mare, her eyes flaming red and crazy.

Stansa watched in fear as Sorrel went into a frenzy of anger. She could see that her friend was losing control. Instead of felling fear she felt calm and outside of her own body as if watching the scene unfold from above, looking down. She heard and felt the hurt and pain that emitted from Sorrel as she fell into the deep, dark well of blackness and pure grief and self hate. Why does she want me to see this, Stansa asked herself . Did we meet by accident or was I destined to meet Sorrel and help her. Could our powers combined find her sister or at least unravel the twisted story so that it could be understood. As this calm, almost serene feeling swept over Stana she watched as Sorrel grew even stronger and more dangerous. She slowly lifted herself off the ground and glided silently towards the bird that lay beaten on the hard earth, it's eyes closed and heart beating heavily as it's life blood slowly drained from it's damaged body. Gently she cradled the bird, talking softly. One eye remained on Sorrel, who had turned her fury to Blaze. "I can help you", she whispered to the bird who's soft downy feathers felt limp in her arms. Silently the butterfly's appeared, sweeping the ground like a blanket, they rose to form a cocoon around the bird and carried it off to safety, their fluttering wings quickly repairing the damage that Sorrel had inflicted. Halo had watched each movement and knew it was time to intervene, with a scream of anger she flew at Blaze sending the Arab mare out of range of the fire ball that was flying towards her, both horses tails were singed but they were safe until the next attack. Herding Blaze towards Stansa, Halo waited for the girl to leap on board and use her powers to fly them to safety. Stansa, spoke to her mare, telling her that they would need to leave Sorrel and take Blaze with them until Sorrel's anger lessened, then they could return and help her. "I hope my powers are strong enough to lift all of us", Stansa whispered as she vaulted onto Halo's back and prepared to take both horses into the sky and away from Sorrel. "I only hope Sorrel can't use any of her other powers while she is so angry".

Sorrel felt her anger fall slowly and her fire balls weaken. She watched through what seemed like someone else's eyes as Halo shoved Blaze out of range. With blazing eyes she flew up into the sky, now hovering above the mare as they charged away. Seeing the butterflies carry away the injured bird she felt a shiver of guilt run through her, taking away her anger. Gently she floated down to the ground, landing on her knees, and bent over, hiding her face in her hands. Remembering what Stansa had thought earlier she let out a shivering breath, wiping away tears she hadn't noticed the existence of. You had to see this, she thought to her friend, now trembling with a mixture of guilt, misery and fear of the power that she knew flowed within her veins. Because you had to see the other side of me, how dangerous I can be if you anger me. You needed to know the dangers before you decide if you're going to be my friend.
She turned to study the mares. They both had singed tails and Blaze had a burn on her shoulder, but nothing too serious. I can fix that she promised, before adding, don't worry, Stansa, you won't come back in time with me, I'll just disappear from here for a little while. Closing her eyes she vanished back to the fight. Opening her eyes she watched the mares carefully, and just as the fireball moved toward them she paused time. Sprinting forward she grabbed it, glad that the paused contained its heat as well, and threw it in the water before playing and going back to the present, reappearing back where she had stood within what seems like a heartbeat since she left. now both mares stood uninjured side by side where she'd left them.

Stansa, saw everything unfold before her as if watching a movie. "Sorrel, I am scared. But i'm not afraid of you, i'm not worried if you hurt me." She stroked Halo and watched as the butterfly's mended the injured bird. Thinking to herself Stansa could feel her heart beating and the very depths of her instinct and feelings arose. She knew that she had met Sorrel for a reason. She felt a strong connection with her new friend that did not start recently but began a long time ago. In her heart she knew that they had met before, maybe even the 2 horses. possibly not as they were now in human and horse form. But somewhere in her past life Stansa had met Sorrel and for some reason their souls had connected them again. "I'm here to help you Sorrel, i'm just not sure how". Head bowed, Stansa stood waiting for Sorrels response. Her head spinning with ideas on how she could bring back those that Sorrel had lost.

Sorrel was silent. After her friend had spoken, she knew what she was thinking. You can't bring back the ones I've lost, they're gone. The past is the past, its behind us now, and there is no reason to bring it back. She bowed her head and sighed. Walking over to the bird she gently lifted it from the butterflies and dipped her head. They fluttered away toward Stansa. Taking a deep breath Sorrel placed a single hand on the chest of the bird and closed her eyes once more. The bird's heartbeat grew stronger and its wounds and burns healed. Be free... she whispered, be free, for it may be the last chance you get... The bird rested its head in the crook of her neck before letting out a shrill caw and flying away, its feathery wings beating hard as it gained hight until it was nothing more than a speck in the darkening sky. Farewell, my friend. May you return to your family, something I may never do...

I'm glad you could help the bird Sorrel. Tell me what happened to your family. Maybe there is a way to find them, or go to where they are somehow. Maybe I could get there?
