I saw the character in the wanted section and something just clicked. Read up on what you had in mind with him as much as possible and tried to follow that faithfully while taking a few creative liberties at the same time. If needed I will modify it, but I rather enjoy how he turned out. I'm hoping he's to your liking.
Loyd Augustus Martin
Basics
Name: Loyd Augustus Martin
Nickname:None as of now.
Age: Twenty-six
Birthday: February 24th
Gender: Male
Occupation: Unemployed / Unaligned Healer
Species: Human
Powers: Loyd's powers revolve around the ability to manipulate his own life force, a source of energy which is commonly referred to among some groups as chi. This presents itself in two ways.
The first is in the form of healing. Using his power Loyd can restore a person's body back to its normal state after even some of the most severe wounds. While it's possible it may be able to cure disease as well he has had no true success in this effort, restricted by either the limits of his powers or lack of knowledge regarding human anatomy.
The second is that of force. By forcing an amount of his energy out of his limbs as he lands a blow, Loyd can increase the power of his attacks extensively giving him strength disproportionate to his physical size.
While both of these skills can be extremely potent and useful depending on the situation he finds himself in, he must use it cautiously. Relying on it too frequently in a short period of time has proven to have a negative effect upon his body.
Appearance
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Dark blue
Scars: A small circular set of scars on the palm and top of his left hand.
Tattoos: None
Piercings: None
Accessories: Loyd is rarely seen without his trademark red scarf.
Full Appearance: Loyd is a rather tall young man, standing at just under six feet in height. His skin is somewhat pale, largely due to his lack of social excursions. While often seen wearing a suit and dress pants, this is more of a choice of style rather than anything to do with status. More often than not his appearance gives off the vibe that he'd rather not put much effort into it. His hair is wild and unkempt, with several long brown strands sticking out in various directions, and runs down to almost his chin in length on the sides. A pair of inquisitive dark blue colored eyes are obscured by a pair of simple, long-lensed glasses. While not necessarily weak he does have a slim build, with very little in the way of muscle definition.
Persona
Likes:
Children - Even early within his teen years Loyd has had a soft spot for children, falling into the role of a caretaker rather quickly.
Cats - While a fan of most animals cats are by far his favorite. Their independent nature was something he always had admired.
Art - No certain type in particular; just "art". Not falling into the stereotype of an art house snob, he instead finds this interesting as a way to compare his own work to others. Not to mention analyzing certain works is a fantastic opportunity to express his sometimes silly sense of humor.
Playing Medic - With the discovery of his power he finally felt as if he had what he needed in order to make a profound difference for others. Assisting people in this manner is deeply rewarding to him.
Dislikes:
Loud Noises - While not necessarily shy, Loyd is a soft-spoken young man. As such being around people and environments that have a lot of noise is personally frustrating to him, as he feels it greatly limits his ability to speak and focus.
Violence - While not a complete stranger to this, as most aren't, he does have a strong dislike of violence in any form. A strong believer in the fact that the pen is mightier than the sword he's often the first to try and push for negotiations and communication in a conflict.
Alcohol - While not opposed to people drinking this so long as they're responsible, he personally has no desire to do so himself. This is less because of the inherent health risks associated with continued use of the substance and more that he's against anything that can alter one's mental state or behavior, largely due to the fear that he'll be more loose-lipped and tell those around him of his power.
Habits:
Singing - When alone, or rather when he believes himself to be alone, he'll often sing to entertain himself. It can be anything from actual songs to simple narrations of the actions he's taking at that moment in time. Whatever it is, most would agree that it sounds quite terrible.
Fears:
Fire - While not exactly a full-blown phobia, Loyd does find himself uncomfortable around flames. Even if it's something so minor as a scented candle he'll try his best to either avoid it or subtly extinguish it.
Helplessness - To be more specific, not having the skill to protect those around him. While not so conceited as to believe that he may control every aspect of the world, with the discovery of his power he does believe that he's more capable to make a difference than most others.
Secrets: The main secret Loyd has is the existence of his power. Worried that some people may threaten to harm those around him in order to gain exploitation of it, he has made a conscious effort to keep his identity hidden when using it.
Hobbies:
Drawing - This is the ultimate form of creative expression to Loyd. While actually quite skilled at it, not many are aware of that fact as he is extremely critical of his own work and refuses to let others see it.
Meditation - Originally taken up in an effort to heighten his sense and improve his power, it has since become a part of his routine which helps him to unwind after particularly stressful days.
Traits: Confident, level-headed, introverted, thorough, sympathetic.
People/Past
Family:
Bandy - Adopted family member. Following an unclear set of events that occurred roughly four years ago which resulted in the separation from her original family, Loyd began caring for her. Above all else he wants to ensure that she may have a more comfortable life.
Connor James Martin - Former caretaker and father figure for a large majority of Loyd's life.
Pets: None
Friends: Several acquaintances, but none that he would really consider himself close enough to in order to qualify as a "friend."
Crushes: None
Enemies: None worth mentioning.
History: Originally born into the Milvalen family, Loyd spent the first several years of his life without much excitement. This changed shortly after his seventh birthday. Waking up one morning he was shocked to find that his parents had vanished, as well as many things that were present within his home. Initially worried that something had happened to them he waited for them to return, slowly going through the food left behind. Once that was used up he had little choice but to leave and look for more, slowly being pushed toward theft in order to survive. Eventually his home was taken by somebody else, and rather than leaving with the adults who were claiming to want to help him he managed to escape and made the streets his new living quarters. Day by day the reality of the situation continued to sink in one tiny piece at a time until he finally realized; he had been abandoned.
A year passed. He was surviving, but it was rough to say the very least. Not only did he have to compete against those who were more well off than himself in order to pilfer his food, but also the others who found themselves without a home. This new world of his was one where he couldn't trust anyone. At least, that was what he believed for a time. One day a gruff looking man approached him, offering him a box of fried rice he had picked up nearby. Hastily taking it from him, the man then sat across from him and began to speak to Loyd. Introducing himself as Connor, he talked about how he didn't belong in this kind of environment. Promising that there was more to the world than what he had experienced lately, he offered to let him stay within his home. At first he was apprehensive at accepting; after all, if his own parents were able to do this to him then there was no real way to prove he couldn't just as easily do the same. Still, at this point warm meals and beds alone sounded like enough. Agreeing to do so but quickly stating that he didn't really trust him, they left together.
Despite the rough start the two had quite a happy life. Loyd was enrolled in school, had his own small group of friends, and was just generally much more well off. This didn't last, however. At the age of sixteen he awoke to his power. While listening to music in his room one day he idly clenched a fist only to be interrupted by a loud pop and immensely sharp pain. Clenching his hand instinctively he looked down only to a hole and a lot of red. Panicking at the sight he squeezed tighly only to notice a faint glow coming from his fingertips. Distracted by this he finally realized that the stinging had subsided, looking at his wound once more only to discover it had already closed up. While his initial thought was to tell Connor of what had just happened, part of him was honestly concerned that he might be going mad and decided against it.
Over the next several months he came to have a greater understanding of this ability, and went overboard in using it. Adopting a new persona and wearing a mask he used it to fight thugs around the city and assist those who had been injured in accidents or through violent intent. It was like living out one of his childhood dreams; most kids want to be a superhero at one point or another. Unfortunately this abuse of power came at a price. Unaware that the source of it was his own life force, he managed to damage his eyes rather badly through the extensive use resulting in the need to wear glasses. While initially many believed this was a symptom of a much more serious issue due to how suddenly this occurred, they were unable to find any evidence to confirm their fears.
Shortly after he graduated, Connor was hospitalized and diagnosed with a rare neurological condition which had fully paralyzed him. Determined to save him Loyd focused on improving his power through whatever means necessary. Practice wasn't an option as he would be of no assistance were something to happen to him, so it fell onto gaining more knowledge. Yet despite what he studied - human physiology, medicine, neurology - none of it seemed to make any difference. Desperate, he started to research the more thin connections such as meditation and chi, though it ultimately had the same result. Refusing to give up but with no real idea of how to continue his effort, he was forced to set this issue aside for the time being and continue living his life.
While much more careful about how he used his abilities due to how it nearly blinded him, he still felt it would be too much of a waste to give it up entirely. Now older and more mature he once again relied on it to heal but had given up the more violent aspects of it. Word of his acts began to spread. While assisting someone he was approached by a representative of a rather wealthy businessman. Claiming that his son had been severely injured in a boating accident, they offered him a large sum of money in exchange for his help in restoring him to his previous health. While he would have assisted regardless, he wasn't about to turn down money. Since that event he has budgeted this so it may last him for a long period of time, freeing time that would have been taken by a career so he may continue looking into how he may help Connor.
At the age of twenty-two Loyd found a young girl after an incident in a river. Half-drowned, he did his best to treat her but even with his abilities he wasn't entirely sure that she was going to make it. Rushing her to the hospital he explained the situation to the staff and waited outside her room for what seemed like an eternity until finally...
"Bander...snatch."
Bandersnatch? Okay then. Certainly not what he was expecting to say the very least. Grinning at the somewhat strange way he was notified that she was alright, he entered the room and started to speak with the young girl, we had introduced herself as Bandy. Initially he questioned if this was true, but there really was no reason he could think of that she would make that up. Not to mention, it was only a name anyway. If they were comfortable with it then there's no reason to challenge it.
After a lengthy discussion with Bandy an idea popped up. It's true he had his own goals he wanted to achieve, but to disregard someone who needed his help who was right in front of him would have been downright inhuman. He had both the means and the time. With a smile, Loyd offered for Bandy to stay with him if it was something that sounded appealing to her. After all, with how a similar offer made such a profound difference in his own life it only felt right. She agreed, and the two have been staying within the same home since.
