This is what happens in times of betrayal. Such an unexpected twist to have to come to this place, however it was the only place that was a little safe. The clouds swirled in the grey sky and the sun just breaking through to make dim sunlight. For the last year. Durham and Cody had lived here, in the forest in a small abandoned house not far from where he was. For the years they had to leave, he felt bad, Cody was in constant danger, and his younger brother didn't deserve it and it was his fault. He walked on the ground, head down and wearing black boots. His mind was deep in thought of what he could maybe do, but all seemed impossible. There is no where safe for Cody, if I abandon him, someone will know, they will just find me better like the dogs they are. Durham thought. He hated the fact he had dragged his brother into a big mess.
I am not a good guardian at all, he is in constant danger because of me. He thought, only making himself feel worst. He knew he could hunt for himself, but yet he depended on Cody to get things from town, even if he wished he didn't have to. Soon he leaned against an oak tree, staring up at the broad dark green leaves.

Emiko cracked her eyes open to stare up at the tall trees overhead and the faint sound of wind blowing through the quiet forest making a peaceful and perfect setting for her nap. She felt a little sleepy still though, and she would prefer to just curl up and go back to sleep for a few more hours. “When did I fall asleep, my back is killing me.” She said with a yawn and stretched her arms. She felt stiff and achy all over and it hurt to bend her neck because of how she slept, and immediately she started to regret taking a short nap in the middle of the forest. She started to pluck the leaves out of her hair and brush herself off. But then in the corner of her mind she heard faint foot steps nearby and peeked over a bush to see a man leaning against an oak tree only a short distance away, and she froze, Emiko just sat there like a deer in headlights unable to move and just staring wide eyed at this stranger, then she noticed he wasn’t yet aware of her presence.
She slowly regained her composure and got into a crouch and was about to sneak away without have ever been revealed, but she was still groggy from sleep and accidentally toppled over and made as much noise as a bulldozer in the quiet forest. She mentally screamed at herself, then making a note to never try and get up right after sleeping.

Durham may have not noticed the girl, but he had a reason, he was deep in thought and was certainly not focusing. He was thinking about what he could maybe do to keep Cody safer. However yet it all seemed to be impossible because of his mistake, just one mistake that made suffering, but he had to quite what he hated to do, ever since what happened to Jasmine. For a second he mopped, until there was a ruckus, it wasn't far, not far at all and it seemed to give him a little startle from the sudden noise in the silence of the forest. He found himself ducking behind the other side of the tree crouching for a few seconds and trying to peer out to see if he could see whatever made the loud noises. He hoped it was just some kind of animal that was wondered and just happened to fall or trip, but there would be crying, the only answer was there was a person or a thing.
He could feel the concern that was now heavy in his mind, he didn't want to be found. He touched his meal mask with his left hand, remembering the scars and why he wore it. It was a scary thing, meant to scare people who found him in hopes that no one would believe there was such a person who wore one. It was cold and he could remember where every scar was still, that claws even digging into his skin to make them and the pain. Yet it was distant, it had been a while since, but he knew he could never go back to his past work, although he enjoyed to clean his gun and that kind of stuff, he found himself despising killing people. Jasmine's death had done this, but he was happier not having to obey orders or kill for that matter.

Emiko peeked over the bush again after a few moments of silence, but was really confused when she didn’t see him there anymore. Although it was most likely an after effect from her nap and she was just imagining it, after all she thought saw a metal mask over his mouth. Emiko let out a small nervous laugh that her subconscious would even make up such a thing. But she still didn’t let go of the possibility that there was someone still close by. She stood up and looked over again, she still couldn’t see anyone from where she was at, so she cautiously walked over near where she saw him, her hands nervously clutching her locket to keep her hands from shaking to much, she was getting nervous the more she thought about it. “Hello, is anyone there?” Emiko called and her voice shook the slightest bit.

The wind made silent sounds in the trees, that all seem the hush for a second as he took a glance to see it was just a girl. Durham's tensed muscles relaxed from seeing there was no harm. He sighed, he had gotten worked up over nothing, it was just a girl who was maybe lost, but her parents or some police officer would find her, no one was lost forever unless they wanted to stay hidden. He hoped she hadn't heard his sigh. Soon Durham heard her quivering voice, it almost shook more then she did. She must have saw him, but let her think it was an illusion, it wasn't anything against the kid, but he couldn't be found, even by someone who wouldn't be believed. He got up slowly, trying not to make a sound, but then, snap. There are been a twig under his boot. Damn it. Was all he could think, he was trying to be quiet and he blew it.
He turned to where the girl was, wondering if she had heard the sound of the snapping twig, to see if there was just a chance he could escape.

Emiko almost jumped into a nearby tree when she heard the sound of a twig snapping, and her gaze shot in the direction of the oak tree where she saw the man in the first place. She took a few steps back slightly shaken by the sudden disturbance. And there standing slightly concealed behind the oak tree was the same man with the metal mask, she stared bewildered as to why he was hiding in the first place, she was only a half asleep teen girl, and he was a fully grown adult. She froze for a long moment waiting for herself to comprehend the situation before taking action or doing anything rash. Emiko thought that trying to talk with him was the best idea she had at the moment.
She opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out and instead she ended up snapping her mouth shut forgetting what she was about to say, and she stared blankly at the mask over his mouth with a slight curiosity as to why he was wearing it in the first place.

She had seen him and there was no chance of getting away, so too bad. Although Durham preferred not to be seen, even by a young girl who no one would believe, by his guess. He was quiet and she was also, but as he glanced up she could tell she was staring at the metal mask, it was annoying him and his low tolerance. " It isn't nice to stare." He mumbled, the metal mask of course not moving. It was solid steel and he didn't want any chance of his scars being seen. He leaned against the tree and looked the other way looking through the trees and further then an average man. His enhanced sight being the reason he carried a gun as a weapon, it was playing to his strengths. There seem to be no danger so he looked back to the girl, wondering if she had said anything or done something. [lazy ]

She gulped, feeling guilty for being caught while staring and quickly cast her gaze downward. “Sorry.” She mumbled mostly to herself. She looked back up to find him looking away, she couldn’t help but stare and felt rude after being caught once already. Emiko thought back to when she was in a situation like this and she got out of it without it being this awkward, except that time she had a little mishap with her powers to get her out if it, and if only she did a few things differently she could have avoided all this. She looked into his strange yellow eyes just a little curious about what he could be thinking of, and she has fairly tempted to try reading his mind, but at that moment his gaze shifted back to her. Emiko was so startled she tripped backwards on something and landed hard on her back. ‘Why am I so clumsy right now?’ she thought to herself. Although she had almost never been this scared of someone like this before in her entire life. She let out a long groan of frustration and she covered her eyes with her hands feeling absolutely humiliated.

Durham had noticed his pretty much constant paranoia, he hated it. He could feel only the slightest bit of fear if he was to be found, and that was what created the horrible paranoia he tried so hard to ignore. This had to happen, I had to make that stupid mistake. This is almost worst then death. He thought, frowning, of which was of course, unnoticeable since his mouth was hidden. As the girl fell, he wondered what may have set off that. "You okay?" He asked, trying t at least be polite. Although deep down he just wanted to escape this altogether. I need to get out of here, but I would look too suspicious just leaving so soon. Durham thought while he let out another sigh. There was nothing for him to really do, he couldn't go to the city because while, he was an escaped 'traitor' even though he wouldn't say a word.
Yet being harmed it had just been to much and he had escaped and now he suffered an utterly boring life. Plus he knew that the metal mask he wore would absolutely scare more people then this girl.

Why was she feeling embarrassed in front of a total stranger she would probably never see him again so she had nothing to worry about right. She lowered her hands down to her sides in a slow motion, she took a deep breath and hopped to her feat with ease, she was surprisingly wide awake and alert after the second fall, feeling strangely light on her feet. “Of coarse, I’m fine, I only took a small blow to my dignity.” She said. She brushed herself off and then proceeded to pull her hood up over her head and felt more secure with it up. She slowly looked back over to him and he seemed to have a look of confusion as to why she was so startled. Although Emiko was seriously curious as to why he was in the middle of the forest anyway, she stared at him with questioning eyes and crossed her arms against her chest. “So what are you doing out here?” She asked. Emiko didn’t really have the right to question a total stranger and he might not even answer her anyway, but there's no harm in asking.

Durham was quiet just looking around to make sure until a question, it immediately annoyed him. He hated questions, it made him talk and all that kind of stuff, plus anyone could be hiding from his site and secretly listening to the conversation. He paused thinking for a few seconds. I hate questions. I can't tell her anything or she will just be in harm's way so I need an excuse. Durham instantly knew one and lifted his head to look at the girl. "Just a walk, no harm in that." He answered, it was a lie, but it wasn't whole truth. With nothing to do, he had to find something.

Sure just a walk no harm at all, Emiko doubted that it was the whole truth, but she didn’t push any further for the truth. So yet so far there was some stranger with a creepy metal mask, taking a stroll through the middle of the forest, yup that sounds totally believable, but you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. She studied him closely for a moment, he did seem a little strange but at the moment she really didn’t actually care to much about appearances, she mostly wanted to get as far away as possible from this man, but she found something about him interesting. She leaned back against a tree and stared at him questioningly.

It was just silent, yet Durham had a feeling she didn't believe his story, at least he wasn't lying. It was a strange silence, but he didn't other moving, until he wondered about the girl, why was she out here? He didn't look at her, just down at the ground. "Why are you out here? You haven't told me that." He somewhat mumbled. His curiosity made him wonder this, but if she asked, then he should be able to ask something too. Durham still wished to escape, but if the girl was lost, he could at least show her where the road was so she could return to the city, where she may likely belong.

Her arms fell to her sides and she stared at him slightly stunned by the question, but of course she did expect him to ask the same. “I was just…” She trailed off. She clenched and unclenched her hands repeatedly thinking of what to say. But maybe if she did tell him the truth he’ll think it’s a joke that she was just taking a nap in the middle of the forest. ”I just accidentally dozed off.” She said. Emiko waited for his reaction with a slight smile on her face thinking of how that sounded coming out of her mouth, it sounded much better in her head though.

He waited for an answer and noticed her pause, as though she didn't know what to say, perhaps she didn't even want to answer the question. He honestly just decided to assume she paused for no reason, this was a kid, a very young kid. After she answered, it was strange, napping in the forest wasn't a good idea, there were wild animals and some were very dangerous. "I see." He said as he shoved his hands into his jacket pockets and began to walk off, wanting to continue his walk. This kid was strange, so he decided just not to ask any further questions and he himself didn't want to be asked anymore. Secrets, they seem to be everywhere, it is kind of sad how common they are. Durham thought to himself. Almost everyone had a secret and almost no one was completely honest, he wasn't, but it was for the best.
He didn't want anyone to get hurt because of him, so he was simply going to say nothing about himself. Well at least he hoped. I am not even a real outlaw, the government just wants me dead to keep there crimes secretive. He thought as he glanced up to the upcoming forest.
